The plaid is worn wrapped tightly across the chest, passing under the right arm, the buckle of the cross belt and through the left epaulet before being secured in place by means of the plaid brooch.

Pipers wear a long tartan plaid in a flowing cape like manner over their left shoulder. Only one shoulder shell is worn by piper's on their right shoulder whilst other members of the band tend to wear them in pairs.

The anodised aluminium collar badges are of the same sew on type previously worn by members of the WRAF as a cap badge.      Plaid Brooch of multi piece construction in chrome and gold plated metal with a pin fitting to the reverse.

The sporran hangs from supporting chains leading from straps that pass through special loops at the back of the kilt.

Stay Bright anodised aluminium buttons are fitted towards the ends of the silver embroidery on the tashes or flaps of the doublet.     The kilt pin is passed through just one layer of its material to add weight and prevent the front apron of the kilt blowing open in a breeze.
