The tunic itself is made from fine Venetian cloth with three buttons being fitted to each side of fore-parts of the jacket, however unlike conventional officer's mess jacket there is not a pair of buttons and link to fasten the two sides of the jacket closed. |
The rear of the tunic's skirt is panelled and spilt creating two tails. |

Two buttons are fitted to the mid points of the vertical and horizontal seams. |

Cuffs are finished off with three Gilt buttons with a separate mounted Eagle and Crown. |
Unusually rank is denoted by the use of half sized gold bullion lace on the flexible shoulder straps stitched to the jacket, rather than lace around the cuff. |
