Flight Lieutenant's

Service Dress Jacket dated 1960

Following the unsuccessful  introduction of the 1947 Pattern Uniform  the jacket had by now regained the two lower pockets and silk embroidered flying badges. Three equally spaced gilt metal buttons together with one flat button underneath the belt fasten the jacket at the front.

Embroidered Flying Badge with the crown of Queen Elizabeth II. Above the two rows of WWII medal ribbons are small loops that accommodate the pin of the brooch bar for the full sized medals that may worn on certain ceremonial occasions.
The jacket incorporates a single deep central slit to the rear with the belt being held in position across the back by loops, but not being directly stitched to the jacket itself.

This particular jacket has had a gilt metal belt hook fitted so a sword with its sword belt may be worn for ceremonial events.

A flat fourth button was hidden underneath the belt that incorporates a gilt metal two pronged buckle.
