Pilot Officer's

Service Dress Jacket dated 1941

 

London manufactured Pilot Officer's jacket of 1941 with Volunteer Reserve collar badges .     

 
 

 
     

         
 

The jacket incorporates a single deep central slit to the rear and the belt is stitched in position across the back.

   

VR collar badges of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve fitted as per instructions introduced in April 1941 “On the collar of jacket 1 inch above the inner end of step opening midway between the outer edge and inner (rolled) edge, placed in such a way that a line drawn vertically through the centre of the badge is parallel to the inner (rolled) edge”. Prior to this the base of the badge was to be parallel with the ground.

      The belt and buckle was positioned between the third and fourth buttons.
